Invisalign is a clear aligner system that straightens teeth using a series of custom-made, removable plastic trays. Each set of aligners gradually shifts your teeth into place based on a treatment plan created by your orthodontist or dentist.
Treatment typically lasts between 6 to 18 months, but this varies depending on the complexity of your case and how consistently you wear the aligners (20–22 hours per day is recommended).
Invisalign is generally less painful than traditional braces. You may experience mild discomfort or pressure when switching to a new set of aligners, but this usually subsides within a few days.
You should remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. This prevents staining and damage to the aligners and helps maintain good oral hygiene.
Aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. Consistency is key for effective and timely results. Only remove them for eating, drinking (except water), brushing, and flossing.
Some people may experience a slight lisp when they first start wearing aligners, but this typically goes away within a few days as your mouth adjusts.
